Continental Landscapes begin installing the covering to our new poly tunnel. Funding which enabled the purchase of the poly tunnel was provided by Cumbria Community Foundation.

2012 - A bad year for bats?

Batworkers are concerned that 2012 will be a difficult year for already struggling UK bat populations. In May 2012, the Bat Conservation Trust’s Bat Helpline (0845 1300 228) saw a 50% increase in calls relating to bat-care, and in June the number of calls about baby bats and bat maternity roosts has declined.

B and Q donation

We would like to thank B and Q for the very generous donation of garden bulbs and water plants. Thanks also to Central and Hindpool Neighbourhood Management wardens for delivering them to the project.

Installing the poly tunnel

One of our Directors and Deputy Chief Executive of Furness Building Society Steven Pryer with BAE Graduate Alana Toye. Alana was visiting the project to view the installation of the poly tunnel and write a brief report as part of her voluntary work with Cumbria Community Foundation. The foundation had previously provided the funding which enabled the purchase of the poly tunnel.

Marks and Spencer support

Our roller banners on display in our local Marks and Spencer store in recognition of their support and funding in contribution towards our new community grow your own scheme.

Marks and Spencer Greener Living Spaces donated the profits from the sale of their food carrier bags between May 2008 - 2011 to environmental charity Groundwork who are supporting and funding parks, play areas and public gardens such as our new community grow your own scheme around the UK.

Barrow's Wildside - FREE Springwatch events

Making it wild at Ormsgill Quarry

North Walney Beach Clean

The amazing wildlife of South Walney Nature Reserve
