Planting bulbs for wildlife

November is a really good time to think about planting a variety of bulbs which will provide early bees, butterflies and hover flies with plenty of nectar in the spring.  You can plant a succession of bulbs so that there will always be something in flower over a longer period.

Bulbs could include:
  • Crocus
  • Snowdrops
  • Grape hyacinths
  • Fritilliaries
  • Bluebells
  • Alliums
  • Lilies
  • Irises
