Some of our service users have begun maintaining and preparing their planters for the growing season ahead

Turning over and aerating the soil and adding some new compost.

Raised planters are an excellent way of growing small plots of vegetables and flowers. They can provide good drainage and act as a deterrent to pest such as snails and slugs. They can also be of benefit to those with restricted movement and who may struggle to bend down.
More information about gardening with raised beds can be found on the Royal Horticultural Society web page here.
