Barrow Community Trust - 2013 Spring Charity Dinner
The Barrow Community Trust makes grants to support voluntary
and community groups throughout the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness. This year
their Charity Dinner and Ball, which is the main fundraiser for the Trust, will
be held on Saturday 16 March 2013 at Abbey House Hotel. All proceeds from the evening will support
the work of the Trust. Last year the dinner raised over £4,000.
Quote for the week......
"Every gardener knows under the cloak of winter lies a
miracle . . .a seed waiting to sprout, a bulb opening to light, a bud straining
to unfurl. And the anticipation nurtures our dreams." - Barbara Winkler

Quote for the week......
"When weeding, the best way to make sure you are
removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of
the ground easily, it is a valuable plant." – Anon

Brathay Trust visit
James and Claire from Brathay Trust pay a visit to discuss
our involvement during the final week of their Future Footprints programme. The project incorporates
outdoor skills, conservation work and employability. They hope this will create
a platform from which young people can develop and is ultimately about
effecting sustainable lasting change in the young people. The project consists
of four residentials at Brathay Trust based at the end of Windermere. Brathay’s
residential programmes have helped young people to re-engage with education,
have a voice in their community, become peer mentors and young leaders, and for
some, move away from criminal activity and engage in positive behaviour.
